Solubility

Easily soluble in water and solvents containing halogenated hydrocarbons, alcohols, amines, nitroalkanes, low molecular fatty acids, etc., but insoluble in a few solvents such as acetone, ether, turpentine, aliphatic hydrocarbons, and alicyclic hydrocarbons. Compatible with most inorganic salts and various resins.

Application:

（1）Used as a binder in oral solid injections

Due to its solubility in water and commonly used organic solvents, it can be used in practice in a variety of formulations.

（2）Used as a solid dispersant

In order to improve the bioavailability and stability of poorly soluble drugs, solid dispersion technology can be used, that is, the water-insoluble drugs are dispersed in a water-soluble solid carrier in the state of extremely fine particles or molecules. When placed in a liquid, the soluble carrier dissolves immediately, and the drug is released in very fine particles, which can improve the dissolution rate by several times compared with the undispersed particles.

（3）Used as a film coating material

PVP of usual specifications is used as a film-forming material for medicine, and its flexibility is ideal. However, PVP is often used in combination with other film-forming materials such as acrylic resin, shellac, methyl or ethylcellulose, cellulose acetate, etc. to enhance its moisture resistance. When preparing the slurry, it should be dissolved with a hydrophilic solvent alone, and it is best to use it to increase the viscosity of the mixed slurry.
